¹ orta autem fame super terram post eam sterilitatem quae acciderat in diebus Abraham abiit Isaac ad Abimelech regem Palestinorum in Gerara
And when a famine came in the land, after the barrenness that had occurred in the days of Abraham, Isaac went to Abimelech, king of the Philistines, at Gerara.

And when the men of that place asked him about his wife, he replied, “She is my sister,” for he feared to say she was his wife, thinking they might kill him because of her beauty.
